Chinese Ice Dancers Face Investigation After Displaying Prop Weapon during Event
ISU officials are conducting an investigation after a pair of Chinese ice dancers appeared with an object resembling a replica weapon at a grand prix figure skating event.
Television footage showed Ren Junfei and Xing Jianing sitting with a large toy shaped like a missile marked “DF-61” while waiting for their scores in the “kiss and cry” zone on Saturday.
The DF-61 is a new China-produced land-based intercontinental ballistic missile capable of transporting atomic warheads, that had been displayed during a national ceremony recently.
